We've teased that Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" sequel was really a "Justice League" movie in disguise, after the addition of Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) were added to the roster. Now the fear has been even further realized, as a new member of the Justice League has officially been added to the film.
Cyborg will be portrayed by stage actor Ray Fisher in the upcoming "Batman Vs. Superman". Whether it will be Victor Stone or Cyborg in this film, that remains to be seen. Cyborg is a great character and getting an accomplished stage actor will certainly add a bit of fun and theatrics to the role. But that doesn't take away from the fact that I want Superman to get a real sequel first, before a "Justice League" movie, even if they aren't calling it that. It's already feeling quite crowded, even if the role of Cyborg is believed to be a minimal one, to further set the stage for the expanding universe.
This title has already been pushed from its originally announced release date. In addition to the aforementioned, WB also added Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) and Alfred (Jeremy Irons) to the film, which are not small characters. Fans want the film to be great but we certainly have reason to be cautiously optimistic at this point, if optimism is even still a piece of the pie.
Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" trilogy was incredible and "Man of Steel" was received well overall. But there are a ton of amazing characters they haven't even begun to explore, while Marvel Disney is already on Phase 3 of their cinematic universe.
The sequel is already opening up against Marvel's "Captain America 3". That is, unless either studio vacates the date. If I were Disney, I wouldn't flinch. My track record alone would keep me staying cozy on that release.
Are you happy about the addition of Cyborg or do you think it's getting too crowded? Let us know in the comments section below!
