Ever since producer Jerry Bruckheimer did not renew his contract with Disney, he's been announcing some upcoming projects he wants to bring to fruition. One such project includes a "Top Gun" sequel. The other one we heard about was a "Beverly Hills Cop 4". Now Bruckheimer speaks out about the Eddie Murphy-starring comedic franchise and it's looking more and more probable that another installment will happen soon.
Bruckheimer stated, "We're in the process of getting the script finished. Paramount is very excited about making it, Eddie is very excited, Brett Ratner is excited about doing it, so I think we're moving forward. Hopefully we'll start end of summer, beginning of fall and get rolling on it. We're going to take Eddie back to Detroit - he's going to be in Beverly Hills and we take him to Detroit. So we're going to have some fun with him, he's really excited about doing it."
Bruckheimer's statement certainly revealed a lot to us. Murphy is back and it looks like Ratner will be directing. That may indeed turn some people off, as Ratner has a history of some serious misses on his resume. But if you like the character of Axel and the premise, perhaps they will deliver what your heart longs for.
