While some actors are immortalized in comic-book character roles, few compare to J.K. Simmons portraying J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" films. He was absolutely perfect as the character and completely commanded the screen as the wise-cracking Daily Bugle Editor-in-Chief. Simmons undoubtedly left some huge shoes to fill but fans are eager to know when we'll see Jameson on the big-screen again.
When asked in a recent fan interview, director Marc Webb did hint that the reintroduction of the character may not be in the too distant future.
Webb stated, "I like the idea very much of him coming up in the next film. It was more easy to accept a new Spider-Man than someone who could outdo J.K. Simmons in that role. He is so iconic. That's something we've really talked about. Obviously I love that character because he poses such an interesting dilemma for Spider-Man. The answer is...I don't know, but I think you can expect to see him in the future."
I'm pretty confident that fans would be more than delighted to see Simmons return to his iconic role of Jameson. Surely, plenty of other amazing actors could tackle the role, but it could be a great nod to the original franchise, not to mention an instant crowd pleaser.
