Baz Luhrmann in Talks to Helm ELVIS PRESLEY Biopic

By Amirose Eisenbach May 1, 2014

One of the biggest kings of film spectacle for this generation is definitely Baz Luhrmann. Coming off the mixed reviews of "The Great Gatsby", word of his next potential project has now surfaced. It's being reported that Lurhmann is in talks to helm an Elvis Presley biopic.

Regardless of your stance on his films, which include such titles as "Strictly Ballroom", "Moulin Rouge!", and "Romeo + Juliet", the director has a very unique and distinctive style. He also has a very deliberate motion and essence to his films, as well as his abundant use of color and extravagance, which seems like a perfect fit for an Elvis movie.

Kelly Marcel is penning the script, known for her work on "Saving Mr. Banks" and the upcoming "50 Shades of Grey".

Who will play The King in this new rendition? What part of his life will the story focus on? Lots of unanswered questions but locking a high-profile direction like Luhrmann, is certainly a big-step in helping this colorful project come to life.
