Gerard Butler Exits POINT BREAK Remake

By Amirose Eisenbach May 8, 2014

Gerard Butler has officially exited Ericson Core's "Point Break" remake. He was set to play Bodhi, the character that the late and great Patrick Swayze made famous in Kathryn Bigelow's original.

The parting is being sited as creative differences and scheduling conflicts. The production is set on shooting in June and will be traveling to international locations. Butler is tied up with the upcoming sequel "London Has Fallen", which shoots in London in Fall.

When actors or filmmakers leave a project, we usually never know the true reasons behind it, or at least the whole story. Regardless of the fact that I don't want this classic to be remade in the first place, Butler did seem like a good fit for the role. He was realistic as a spiritual surfer dude in "Riding Giants".

Kurt Wimmer wrote the screenplay and actor Luke Bracey is set to play Johnny Utah, made famous by Keanu Reeves originally. It will be interesting to see who they find to replace Butler and I would imagine we'll find out very soon, as the procution wants to keep the June start.
