Noomi Rapace first emerged on the scene in a big way with the Swedish version of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". She went on to star in Ridley Scott's sci-fi epic "Prometheus, as well as "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows". Now, she is joining another sci-fi adventure opposite Will Smith.
The project is called "Brilliance" and it's being produced by Legendary and distributed by Universal. Julius Onah is directing from a script from David Koepp ("Jurassic Park", "Mission: Impossible").
Based on Marcus Sakey's novel of the same name, the story centers around a group of people with heightened cognitive abilities, coined as "brilliants". Smith plays federal agent Nick Cooper, who uses his special abilities to hunt bad seeds down. It has not been confirmed yet who Rapace will play, but in the book Cooper has a love interest named Shannon, who can walk through walls, so that may turn out to be her role.
It will be nice to see Smith head back to action-heavy roles where he really shines. Pairing with Rapace seems like a great idea and this should be a very interesting one to watch.
