Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" opened to exceptional results all around this past Memorial Day weekend. It racked up $111 million for the extended weekend and over $300 million worldwide.
The film deserves all the praise it is receiving. Mixing amazing acting, character moments, story and incredible visual effects, it's certainly a fun time at the movies, whether you are an X-Men fan or not. Luckily, a sequel has already been announced with "X-Men: Apocalypse". It has not been confirmed yet whether Singer will return to direct or just produce but given his incredible new installment, it wouldn't make much sense for Fox to miss out on the momentum.
Speaking of the next upcoming "X-Men" chapter, a new tidbit about the film has just been revealed. Writer Simon Kinberg, who dazzled with the latest "X-Men" film, is also returning to pen "Apocalypse".
In a recent interview, Kinberg stated, "It will focus primarily on the 'First Class' cast, but it will certainly have some of the original cast involved, too."
That is a joy to hear because some of the most exciting sequences for X-Men fans was seeing the old and new cast back together again. It was also revealed a couple of weeks ago that Evan Peters as Quicksilver will be back for the next film. His scenes in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" were incredible so that is some more good news indeed.
