Duncan Jones' "Warcraft" has officially started production and will hopefully give fans of the very popular video-game franchise a film that does the property justice. We are very lacking in the good video-game adaptations department at the moment, but hopefully Jones and team can turn that around. Fans have wondered if we could see the film hit the big-screen before the 2016 release date, since filming has already begun. According to producer Thomas Tull, there is a reason for the generous amount of time they have allowed before it hits theaters.
Tull stated, "Part of it is getting the date right. As you may have noticed, these next two years, there’s pretty big titles coming out. We wanted to make sure that we got that right, but there are some sequences and some things that Duncan Jones has done that are truly on the cutting edge. You want to have plenty of time to make sure that we dial those in. So by the time they get home and set up, it’ll be a little less than two years. It’ll be about 20 months but we really want to take our time and get this right because the technology that’s employed really is some next generation stuff."
Jones is certainly a director with a hot track record for sci-fi flicks, bringing us the incredible Sam Rockwell-starring "Moon", as well as "Source Code". He is obviously comfortable with complex plots and rich characters and should prove to be a wise choice to spearhead a property as large as this one.
The wonderful Ben Foster is part of the ensemble, as well as Paula Patton, Toby Kebbell, Dominic Cooper and Travis Fimmel. We're really looking forward to seeing the cutting edge sequences we've just been promised.
