Empire Magazine has unveiled two new covers promoting James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy". One cover features the protagonists of the film, including Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper voicing Rocket and Vin Diesel doing motion-capture for Groot.
The other cover features the baddies of the bunch, including Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer, Karen Gillan as Nebula.
I love these covers because the tone of each marries the side they are affiliated with. The antagonists are illuminated by dark blue and purple hues and the anti-heroes that compose our ensemble of misfits enlisted to save the world are highlighted by a pastel background.
On what to expect from the property, Gunn stated, "There's a lot of strange stuff in the movie. But that's the thing that makes it different. For cinema to remain relevant, you really need to not make every film seem like it's Transformers 18 and to try to make things that are a little bit different."
The release is quickly approaching and we've seen a whole slew of materials surrounding it. This intergalactic adventure definitely appears to be quite a departure from other big-screen Marvel properties we've seen thus far and the possibilities they could explore with this world are quite vast.
