After director J.J. Abrams released his clever note on top of the Millennium Falcon, discouraging people from leaking photos from on set of "Star Wars: Episode VII", it's been a bit quiet on that front. That is, until a new photo of Abrams and crew was just released.
The photo was tweeted out by U.K. chancellor, George Osborne. It features him with Abrams, producer Kathleen Kennedy, and our favorite droid, R2-D2. Along with the photo, his tweet stated, "With #StarWars director J.J Abrams and Lucasfilm president Kathy Kennedy, talking to a key cast member."
Certainly enjoying his time in our favorite galaxy far, far away, Osborne followed his tweet with another fun tidbit. He revealed that another "Star Wars" film will also be shot in the U.K.
Osborne's tweet stated, "On set of Episode VII tonight, can announce another #StarWars film will be made in UK. A #LongTermEconomicPlan in a galaxy far far away."
It's been announced that there will be two "Star Wars" spin-off films to date, with "Godzilla" helmer Gareth Edwards attached to one and "Chronicle" director Josh Trank leading the charge on the other. It has not been confirmed which characters will be featured but the rumors have included Boba Fett, Han Solo and Yoda thus far. It is believed that Edwards will help to bring the first film, with whatever subject matter that may be, into production.
It's not too surprising that the U.K. will serve as the home base for all things "Star Wars". It makes sense from a monetary and logistical standpoint for all parities involved. All we ask is for a legit set photo soon, Mr. Abrams. All this talk of expanding the universe is making us hungry.
