Actor Tom Hiddleston, who has become immortalized as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will soon be putting mischief aside for a cowboy hat. He's set to play country icon Hank Williams in Marc Abraham's "I Saw the Light".
We know the man can act but can he sing? The answer is yes and he'll be doing all his own performing in the film. That certainly separates other biopics and portrayals in a big way. There are so many talented people out there that are triple threats, it makes no sense to me why they still hire some actors to just act and dub their voices. Thrilled that is not the case for this one, so it will feel much more seamless and organic.
The film is based off of Colin Escott’s non-fiction title "Hank Williams: The Biography." Williams' story is definitely a sad one. Rising to fame quickly and dying from drug and alcohol abuse at the young age of 29. Hiddleston certainly seems like an appropriate powerhouse to bring such a legend to the big-screen.
Production is said to kickoff in Louisiana in October. We'll keep you posted as the story develops.
