First Look of Henry Cavill as Superman in BATMAN V SUPERMAN

We saw a quick glimpse of Henry Cavill in his Clark Kent getup earlier this week, while doing some good for a charity. Now Warner Bros. has unveiled the first official photo of Cavill as Superman in Zack Snyder's sequel "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice".

Cavill looks authoritative and amazing as the last son of Krypton, in the center of gloomy and rainy surroundings. It certainly feels like he's in Gotham, which would make sense with the introduction of Ben Affleck as the new Batman, taking the reigns over from Christian Bale in Christopher Nolan's versions.

In addition to the new photo, Snyder had a few things to add as well. He admitted, "I was in no rush to put Batman in the movie, but on the other hand it seemed organic the way our story was unfolding to start to feather him in."

The attention has certainly gone from a "Man of Steel" sequel, to a Batman and Superman showdown. It doesn't get much bigger than that to kick-off a new film universe.

On the Batman that will be in the film, Snyder stated, "Dawn of Justice" will see an older version of the Caped Crusader than movie fans are used to, because, Snyder reasoned, "it’s cooler to see a crusty old Batman beating the snot out of guys."

The introduction of some other incredibly iconic characters such as Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg), Alfred (Jeremy Irons), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) will also be occurring in the sequel. It will be a delicate balancing act for Snyder and team but if they pull this off in a big way, it could seriously put D.C. on the map like never before.
