We saw a brief portrayal of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine". Despite the film receiving very negative reviews, there is a high demand for having both the character and Reynolds play him on screen again.
Fans have been asking for a "Deadpool" movie for ages and Reynolds has expressed interest, but it seemed like it was quite an uphill journey to get the film made. The Merc with the Mouth, as he's referred to, is incredibly graphic and violent in the comics, so unless the studio was willing to invest in a Rated-R film, much of what the character is known for would be lost.
Earlier this week, a concept piece leaked online which features the Deadpool character brought to life by Reynolds. The short piece of concept test footage showed the kind of tone and vibe that this rendition of Deadpool would embody and many fans would be happy as it was very close to the original material.
But how close are we to actually making this film and did the powers that be like the test footage? Superhero films are certainly all the rage right now but other Rated-R films of its kind like "Kick-Ass 2" did not perform very well, so hopefully that does not derail the studio from taking a chance on a really good character and an actor that will do him justice.
