ALICE IN WONDERLAND 2 Begins Production in London

By Amirose Eisenbach August 4, 2014

Despite receiving pretty mixed reviews, Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" racked up a whopping $1 billion at the worldwide box office, so a sequel was inevitable. "Muppets" director James Bobin is at the helm for the sequel, which reportedly has just began production in England.

The sequel is titled "Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass" and will see the return of most of its original cast including Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska and Helena Bonham Carter. Through a press release, series newcomers Sacha Baron Cohen and Rhys Ifans have been announced as joining the cast.

Style over substance definitely appeared to be the case for the first film. It was visually beautiful but full of holes andwas overall pretty flat. Both of Bobin's "Muppets" films were charming and delightful, so hopefully he can bring a new sense of life into the franchise that seemed to be missing in the first film.
