When the Russo Brothers were first announced as helming "Captain America: The Winter Solider", the general consensus was a bit lacking in the excitement department. That is, until we saw their incredible final product, which is arguably one of the best films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The duo is returning to direct "Captain America 3" and now fanboys and gals have nothing but confidence in what they can bring.
The sequel had a 70s political spy thriller vibe and according to the Russo's, that will be very much intact in the third picture. Sebastian Stan played The Winter Soldier, which could have been a very flat character but was filled with depth and real internal struggle, thanks to the masterful writer/directors.
In a recent interview, the co-directors elaborated on the idea of Stan's character and stated, "The character was invented for an explicitly political purpose," said Anthony Russo. " So it's hard to get away from that nature."
Joe Russo then added, "His morality is part of his superpower."
Eloquently put and I couldn't agree more. The elaborate plot surrounding The Winter Solider's current state and past was fascinating and I look forward to watching the rich storyline continue to develop, with the amazing supervision of the Russo Brothers.
