Few actors these days have the kind of charisma, charm and talent that Tom Hiddleston boasts. The Marvel Cinematic Universe further solidified that, as he shined and captivated as Loki. The actor has been very meticulous and careful crafting his career and has since starred in an edgy vampire tale "Only Lovers Left Alive" and has signed on to portray country legend Hank Williams in an upcoming biopic. Now word of his next potential endeavor has surfaced and it's quite a huge project indeed.
It's been reported that Hiddleston is being eyed to star in the "Ben-Hur" remake. Timur Bekmambetov ("Wanted") is directing the classic re-imagining, based on Lew Wallace's 1880 novel "Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ". Keith Clarke ("The Way Back") wrote the original screenplay, which has since been reworked by John Ridley ("12 Years a Slave").
The 1959 film, which starred Charlton Heston in the title role, was an absolute classic that helped define cinema and still strongly holds up today. Many don't want a remake to happen. I used to be in that camp, but locking a talent like Hiddleston for the role, has definitely helped me warm up to the idea. It's happening with or without our support, after all. You might as well lock an extremely gifted star to headline.
