AMCi: First US Trailer for Cannes Winner FORCE MAJEURE

By Alicia Malone September 17, 2014

Force Majeure” is little a Swedish comedy which got rave reviews after its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this year, where it won the Un Certain Regard Jury prize. It went on to garner more buzz at the Toronto Film Festival, and a look at this first US trailer gives us an understanding why.

This dark comedy, directed by Ruben Östlund, is about a family who take a skiing trip in the French Alps. It’s supposed to be a relaxing time for the family, but when a controlled avalanche gets out of control, the reactions of each of the parents (the father flees while the mother protects the children) causes all kinds of martial chaos.

“Force Majeure” could just be Sweden’s hope for an Academy Award next year, in the Best Foreign Language Film category. The film releases in the US from October 24.
