AMCi: Official International Trailer for MOMMY

By Alicia Malone September 24, 2014

The first international trailer for Xavier Dolan’s fifth feature film has just been released, the movie is called “Mommy” and is likely to be one you’ll hear about come Oscar time, in the foreign film category.

“Mommy” won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in May this year, and tells the story of a single mother, struggling to keep her violent son on track. “Mommy” stars Anne Dorval, who has worked with Dolan before, and newcomer Antoine Olivier Pilon.

Xavier Dolan is a Canadian actor and director who burst onto the scene with his first feature film, “I Killed My Mother”, and since then has been steadily gaining respect around the world as a director to watch.

His next movie is rumored to star Jessica Chastain as a villian, called “The Death and Life of John F. Donovan”. The two met after Chastain saw “Mommy” and tweeted her love for the film. We spoke about this collaboration in a recent episode of AMCi Indie Spotlight.
