The "Assassin's Creed" adaptation starring Michael Fassbender has been taken off the Summer 2015 calendar. This move was a bit unsettling for fans who were eager for it because it didn't shift to another date but was rather yanked from the lineup until further notice. It's believed that the action was due to script rewrites but then why wasn't another date selected?
Josh Trank's "Fantastic Four" reboot has been pushed back from releasing June 19th to August 7th. That actually seems like a pretty strategic move, as August is a much less competitive month for superhero and big blockbuster films. Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" also proved that an otherwise sleepy month like August, can absolutely be dominated by a solid film.
And finally, the YA John Green film "Paper Towns", has moved up to June 19th from July 31st. This too seems strategic, since Green's other YA film "The Fault in Our Stars", released this past June to great results.
The only title in question on the list is "Assassin's Creed". Hopefully they are just taking the time to get it right because we have been waiting an awfully long time for a good video-game adaptation and with Michael Fassbender attached to this one, expectations were high.
