Tom Hiddleston was the last frontrunner we heard about that was being eyed to star in the "Ben-Hur" remake. That apparently didn't pan out as the official casting has now been announced for the title character.
Jack Huston, known for his incredible portrayal of Richard Harrow on "Boardwalk Empire" and "American Hustle" last year, has been cast. Timur Bekmambetov is directing the remake, working from a script that has recently been rewritten by Academy Award-winner John Ridley "12 Years a Slave".
Morgan Freeman was announced earlier this week as joining the film to play Ildarin, the man that teaches Ben-Hur about the fine art of chariot racing, helping him to become a master at the reins. Huston and Freeman are the only known cast members at this time.
Regardless of what your sentiments are surrounding this remake and there is certainly a lot of criticism surrounding it, Huston is an inspired choice. He has some interesting credits under his name, he's got talent and charisma. But even an amazing talent can't shine in a mediocre production, so hopefully Bekmambetov and company are up for the challenge.
