Matt Damon and "Breaking Bad" star Bryan Cranston are circling Yimou Zhang's "The Great Wall", coming out of Legendary Pictures. Tony Gilroy, known for writing credits on titles such as "The Bourne Identity" and "State of Play", is penning the screenplay.
The story will be based on the multiple dynasties that have built and destroyed parts of The Great Wall of China over centuries. It is said to "reveal the legend behind a great mystery of our age: why this magnificent structure came to be."
Talk about a talented roster if this does happen. First we have Damon, who is a world-class actor. Good at comedy, action, drama and everything in between.
Next we have Cranston. Coming off a cult-classic show like "Breaking Bad", this actor most certainly is in high demand. Showing up briefly in "Godzilla" was hardly enough but he has several good projects in the works.
Then you have acclaimed and visionary director Zhang. Having brought us such visual and stylistic gems as "Hero" and "House of Flying Daggers", he would undoubtedly bring his magic to a film like this. If this film happens, this talented trio gives me enough incentive to pay attention.
