Robert Downey Jr.'s new film "The Judge", which co-stars Robert Duvall, kicked off the opening festivities of the Toronto International Film Festival this past weekend. While promoting the film, he was asked about the future of another solo Iron Man film.
Downey stated, "There isn't one in the pipe. No, there's no plan for a fourth Iron Man."
We heard around San Diego Comic Con in July, that he would be interested if the script was right and all the pieces fell into place. Those pieces undoubtedly come with a certain money figure attached to them. Shane Black's "Iron Man 3" racked up a hugely impressive $1.215 billion worldwide, so it's safe to assume that Disney and Marvel would definitely like to make a fourth standalone if they can swing it.
Downey will next appear as Tony Stark in Joss Whedon's sequel "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and he is also signed on to return for "The Avengers 3". Other than that, unless a deal can be reached, we may soon have to strike up the conversation again on who could be Downey's successor if he truly hangs up the suit.
