The newly formed Cinelou Releasing, created by Cinelou Films producers Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon, will release Jennifer Aniston’s film “Cake” in time to qualify for the Oscars.
Aniston stars in the low-budget dark comedy as a woman who becomes obsessed by the suicide of another woman in her chronic pain support group. Directed by Daniel Barnz, “Cake” premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival to mixed reviews, and will open for one-week in December.
Cinelou Films financed and produced the movie, and with their new distribution arm, will release four films domestically over the next year, and six internationally over the next three years - with the help of Warner Bros Pictures international distribution.
Having the one-week opening in December qualifies “Cake” for awards-season attention, and following that, the film will have a wider release in January.
