“Martha Marcy May Marlene” was a 2011 critically acclaimed indie film with a hard-to-remember title but unforgettable performances, which introduced us to the talented Elizabeth Olsen, who will play Scarlet Witch in the upcoming “The Avengers: Age Of Ultron”. "Martha" director Sean Durkin was praised for his handling of that story - about the psychological effects of a cult.
Since then, Durkin has produced a number of projects and directed the TV mini-series “Southcliffe”; and while rumors said he would be tackling a Janis Joplin biopic next, now there are confirmed reports that he’ll be taking a popular TV show to the big screen.
The Hollywood Reporter says Sean Durkin will be directing a film version of “Little House On The Prairie”, the iconic family TV show which ran from 1974 to 1982. There’s no information about what shape the film will take, but given the wholesome feel of the original show, it’s doubtful to be as dark as “Martha Marcy May Marlene”!
