Oscar Award winner Matthew McConaughey was the unanimous choice to receive this year’s American Cinematheque Award, which has honored an extraordinary filmmaker or actor annually since 1986.
Director Christopher Nolan will present his “Interstellar” star with the award at the ceremony, held at The Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles this coming Tuesday. McConaughey’s co-stars, Anne Hathaway (“Interstellar”) and Kate Hudson (“Fool’s Gold”, “How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days”) will be there to support him, along with taped tributes from his other co-stars, including Jennifer Garner, Reese Witherspoon and Jessica Chastain.
About the choice, American Cinematheque chairman Rick Nicita said, “Matthew McConaughey is the epitome of what a Hollywood star should be - an adventurous, joyous and ever-growing talent combined with matinee-idol looks and an unshakeable sense of who he is and what he stands for.”
