Following the huge announcement of the upcoming D.C. slate and the 10 films they are planning, we've now progressed to the potential casting stage. The first film slated after "Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice" will be the David Ayer-directed "Suicide Squad".
According to reports, an impressive list of A-list talent is allegedly circling the roles. That list includes Will Smith, Ryan Gosling, Tom Hardy and Margot Robbie. It should be noted that while the usual trustworthy Hollywood Reporter is the site that made this claim, the studio has not personally commented on these casting rumors.
Similar to how Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" united a group of misfits and outlaws to help the government, D.C's "Suicide Squad" will unite a band of supervillains who must do the same. The characters rumored to be up for the lineup of the film include Blockbuster, Multiplex, Vixen, Deadshot, Mindblogger, Jaculi and Captain Boomerang. Harley Quinn is not said to be on the potential list of members at this time but that may change.
Coming off his WWII and Brad Pitt vehicle "Fury", this will be a very different project for Ayer. He will be working from script by Justin Marks, known for his credits on "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li". That's not exactly the credit that instills a lot of faith but everyone loves a comeback and Ayer is more than capable of delivering a solid film.
