By Alicia Malone November 4, 2014

Director, producer, screenwriter Darren Aronofsky (“Black Swan”, “Noah”, “Requiem For A Dream”) has been named the next Jury President at the 2015 Berlin Film Festival.

Aronofsky will head up the jury at the festival, which begins on February 5 next year. He is certainly no stranger to film festivals, premiering his own movies at Sundance, Cannes and Venice.

On the appointment, Dieter Kosslick the Berlin Film Festival director said, “Darren Aronofsky has distinguished himself as an outstanding protagonist in contemporary auteur cinema. In his artistic approach he consistently sounds out cinematic language and its aesthetic possibilities. I’m pleased to be able to welcome him as Jury President of the Berlinale 2015.”

And talking about the festival, Aronofsky added, “At the Berlinale, the cinema is always exciting and fascinating. I am looking forward to watching the latest from the greatest in one of the great cities on the planet.”
