In the Best Feature category “Birdman”, “Boyhood”, “Love Is Strange”, “Selma” and “Whiplash” were nominated, while “Inherent Vice” was announced as the recipient of the Robert Altman Award, which honors extraordinary ensemble casts.

Josh Welsh, President of Film Independent said in a press release, “Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘Inherent Vice’ is a testament to the spirit of Altman’s tradition of artistic collaboration. The film features an exquisite ensemble of actors masterfully directed and cast.”
