AMCi: AFI Announces Their 2014 Official Selections

By Alicia Malone December 8, 2014

The American Film Institute has announced their selection of movies for the 2015 AFI Awards. These awards are quite unique in that there are no winners or losers, instead the focus is a celebration of the most outstanding achievements from the year. The selection represents the films deemed most culturally significant, and this year for the first time there are 11 honorees.

The AFI Movies of the Year are:
'American Sniper'
'Birdman (Or the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)'
'Boyhood'
"Foxcatcher'
'The Imitation Game'
'Interstellar'
'Into The Woods'
'Nightcrawler'
'Selma'
'Unbroken'
'Whiplash'

The selection is decided by a jury process, made up of AFI trustees, scholars, film critics and artists. The creative teams, filmmakers and actors from these movies will attend the AFI Awards private luncheon on January 9, 2015 to celebrate.
