Colin Trevorrow Chats New Dino Species in JURASSIC WORLD

By Amirose Eisenbach December 3, 2014

The first trailer for Colin Trevorrow's "Jurassic World" dropped last week. We were introduced to the stars of this next installment of the franchise, including Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins and Nick Robinson. You can definitely feel the tension starting to build, which appears to be stemming from the terror surrounding a new genetically-engineered dinosaur breaking out.

On this new species, which will be a major threat in the film, Trevorrow stated, "There is no shortage of awesome [real] dinosaurs. We could have populated this entire story with new species that haven’t been in any of these movies. But this new creation is what gave me a reason to tell another Jurassic Park story. We have the most awe-inspiring creatures to ever walk the Earth right in front of us, but for some reason that’s not enough. We’re always hungry for the next thing, and those who profit from it are always looking to feed that hunger. The focus groups want something bigger than a T-Rex. And that’s what they get."

The trailer was definitely beautifully shot and hearing the infamous theme song that has become cemented with the franchise was pretty incredible. Hopefully this new breed of dinosaurs will help transport us back to the magic we felt when we were first introduced to the series.
