By Amirose Eisenbach February 3, 2015

It was a busy Super Bowl weekend! Not just for the Patriots who beat out the Seahawks but also for film fans. As we begin a new week and a new month, let's check out the results from the weekend box office.

Clint Eastwood's "American Sniper" held on to the #1 spot for the 3rd week in a row, racking up $31.8 million. The film has now made $249 million just at the domestic box office. Incredibly impressive. It has also been nominated for Best Picture and Best Actor for Bradley Cooper at the Academy Awards.

In the #2 spot is the family film "Paddington", which made just over $8.5 million in it’s 3rd weekend of release. This brings the worldwide total to almost $200 million and over $50 million domestically.

The third spot went to the new film "Project Almanac", which made $8.5 million. The film is said to be a mix between Josh Trank's "Chronicle" and "Super 8".

In fourth is the new Kevin Costner film "Black or White" that opened last weekend, bringing in $6.4 million.

Rounding out the top 5 is the Jennifer Lopez film "The Boy Next Door", which made $6.1 million. That film released on 1/23 and has now racked up $25.3 million at the box office.
