It's a hot topic of conversation to discuss who could play Wolverine after the fantastic Hugh Jackman hangs up the claws. The actor has stated many times that he's nearing the end of his long stint as the character but now that appears to have changed and Michael Keaton has something to do with it.
Apparently after watching Keaton in "Birdman", Jackman had a revelation. He stated, "I said to my wife, ‘The moral is that I should never stop playing Wolverine. I’ve got to find a way to keep playing him until I die.’ I know that someday they’ll recast the role with another actor…I’d be happy if the role was eventually recast. It would mean that it had become iconic."
We already got the gem that is "Birdman" and now possibly this? I'll take it. Jackman is incredible as the character and there are so many more interesting story-lines that could be explored with him, including Old Man Logan.
Jackman continued, "I always want to be in better shape than I was for the last one. I don’t believe in stagnation. People say they try to maintain the status quo. But I believe the natural cycle means you’re either advancing and getting closer to something or you’re receding…Every time I play Wolverine I want to go further, physically and emotionally."
We have a third solo film coming, or second if you discredit the awful "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", and Jackman confirmed he will be back for that. It will be fun to see what other films he could pop up in as the character now that he has expressed interest to continue with it.
