It’s been a while since we’ve seen French actor Gérard Depardieu on screen in something worthy. Of course we’ve heard all about his antics off-screen, but this trailer for ‘Welcome To New York’ looks fantastic.
In the film Depardieu plays a candidate for the French Presidency who is arrested after being accused of raping his maid at a hotel in New York. The story is inspired by the scandal surrounding French politician Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who got mixed up in similar circumstances.

IFC Films will release ‘Welcome To New York’ in limited theatres and via VOD from March 27. The film company provoked the ire of director Abel Ferrara after pressuring him to make cuts to the film, from 125 minutes to just 108 minutes. The shorter version will be the one being shown to audiences.
