Leonardo DiCaprio is arguably one of the best actors out there today and still has no little gold statue named Oscar to his name. Now word has hit of his next project, which is the role he's been dreaming of playing for 20 years and has Academy written all over it.
DiCaprio will star in and produce "The Crowded Room", which focus on Billy Milligan, "the first person to successfully use multiple personality disorder as a defense in a court of law." DiCaprio will portray Milligan, who committed severe and awful crimes ranging from robbery to rape, under the defense of multiple personalities.
It's not a direct science but there is certainly a formula to Academy Award darlings. The Academy loves period pieces, war heroes, underdogs and illnesses. This film would check off several boxes in that category, all anchored by the immense star-power of DiCaprio. Don't you think it's high-time to finally award the gifted actor?
DiCaprio will next be seen in recent Academy Award-winner Alejandro González Iñárritu's "The Revenant", opposite Tom Hardy. That film sounds amazing, is being shot by Iñárritu's fellow Oscar-winner Emmanuel Lubezki and it could perhaps earn DiCaprio some awards buzz.
I hope I don't have to give you a pep talk, Academy. If these next two roles are as good as expected from DiCaprio, let's finally give the actor his due.
