The "Toy Story" trilogy is arguably one of the best trilogies of all-time. Clever, charming and heartwarming, all illuminated by amazing characters and great animation. Some fans felt the trilogy was perfect the way it ended but a "Toy Story 4" has since been announced and now we have some more details about what to expect.
According to Jim Morris, Pixar studio president, "The third movie ended in a beautiful way and completed a trilogy. I think this movie is not part of this trilogy. It is a separate story, which in turn I do not know if will be continued. Never begin a project with that in mind."
That is usually the argument, so it's very smart Morris is getting out in front of it. Certainly there are other clever story-lines to explore with some of the delightful characters that were introduced in the universe. It could be wonderful as long as the story is tight and fun and they don't just try to recreate the magic and nostalgia from the trilogy, without furthering the steady development.
Morris continued, "It is not a continuation of the end of the story of Toy Story 3.Temporarily it is, but it will be a love story. It will be a romantic comedy. It will not put much focus on the interaction between the characters and children. I think it will be a very good movie."
The most exciting part about this project may be that Rashida Jones and Will McCormack have joined the original "Toy Story" writing team of John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter and Lee Unkrich. Lasseter is back at the helm for this one and we should hear soon what characters it will focus on. It wouldn't be "Toy Story" though without the many misadventures of our beloved Woody and Buzz.
