New SPIDER-MAN Featurette: Dr. Curt Connors AKA The Lizard

I've mentioned a few times that although I've loved the Sam Raimi "Spider-Man" franchise (not so much the third installment) I thought it was time for Raimi to move on and stretch his creative wings on other projects and that our favorite web slinger was ready for a new direction. When it was announced that "500 Days of Summer" director Marc Webb was taking over the new Spidey I was encouraged. When I found out that Andrew Garfield was going to be the new Peter Parker/Spider-Man I was nothing short of elated (in my opinion he should have won an Oscar for his role in "The Social Network").

A lot of folks are anxiously awaiting "The Amazing Spider-Man" to hit AMC Theatres on July 3rd and one of the reasons is the highly anticipated first appearance of iconic Spidey villain The Lizard.

In the previous Raimi Spider-Man franchise The Lizard's alter ego, Dr. Curt Connors, made a couple of appearances (played by actor Dylan Baker) but the big reptile himself never had a chance to emerge. Now he's front and center and being played by the consistently solid performer Rhys Ifans.

Sony Studios has just released a new video featurette online revolving around introducing us to Dr. Connors/The Lizard and giving us a little background on the new villain who Spidey will be facing off against. Check out the video below and let us know if you're looking forward to this new Spider-Man!

Really like the look of it! The trailer has a menacing and dark tone to it, as LEE pointed out. Hopefully this won't be another Die Hard 5 case, awesome trailer but terrible film. Godzilla looks so much like it's 60 year old predecessor. I did like the 1999 Godzilla, just because the actors were awesome and it was cool to see another take on a legendary creature, but this film looks so much darker, almost forbidden. Can't wait till the middle of May!!
