Sony Pictures Classics Grabs West Of Memphis

By AMC March 1, 2012

There's been a lot of talk about director Amy Berg's "West of Memphis" film ever since it debuted at this year's Sundance Film Festival, centering on the struggle to exonerate the West Memphis Three. Now it's given the chance to be shown on the big screen for the nation to see as Sony Pictures Classics scoops up the global distribution rights for the film. Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh produce the film.

"West of Memphis" focuses a great deal on Lorri Davis, the wife of Damien Echols, who was sentenced to death for the 1993 murder of three young boys in Arkansas, and their efforts to release him, along with Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley Jr. There's no set date for the release of the new movie at the moment.
