Described as an existential comedy, Afterthought was judged to be a must-see film at Cannes. Uri and Moshe, the film’s deeply compelling main characters, wrestle with personal issues while ascending and descending the huge stone staircase linking diverse neighborhoods on Haifa’s Mount Carmel. They eventually meet and change each other’s lives. Says first-time director Mr. Keidan of his inspiration for the film, “Born in Haifa, I’ve often walked up and down Mount Carmel, and I’ve always wanted to tell a story that would encompass the whole city top to bottom.”
