Documentary
From celebrated director Raoul Peck (I AM NOT YOUR NEGRO) comes a new documentary about photographer Ernest Cole, whose upbringing in apartheid South Africa inspired his singular photography book HOUSE OF BONDAGE, which was banned in his home country for many years. He traveled to the US in 1966 and photographed extensively in New York City, as well as the American south, fascinated by the ways this country could be at times so vastly different, and at others eerily similar, to the segregated culture of his homeland. Featuring selections from over 60,000 unseen photographs and narration by Oscar-nominated actor LaKeith Stanfield, this retrospective will reintroduce a pivotal black artist to a new generation.
