In this harrowing true-life adventure, young American Billy Hayes (Brad Davis) is arrested in Turkey after he's caught smuggling hashish. Taken to a brutal Turkish jail where the prisoners must fend for themselves, he meets many other inmates, including an American (Randy Quaid), an Englishman (John Hurt), and a Scandinavian (Norbert Weisser). Determined to make an example of him, the court hands down a lengthy sentence, forcing Billy to escape via the 'midnight express' in order to save his own life. Brilliant acting, compelling directing and an exhilarating score combine to create a riveting experience that captures audiences with the very first frame. Oliver Stone earned the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for his work on this film. Giorgio Moroder won the Oscar for Best Original Score with title song by Chris Bennett.
