On his 18th birthday, Benjamin inherits a chest containing many artifacts and rare objects that belonged to his father, who had been missing for many years. Among these treasures is an ancient book, which the young man gives as a gift to his friend Slien in an attempt to impress her. Quickly, the duo discovers that the mysterious atlas which once belonged to the cartographer Mercator is coveted by several individuals, including Captain Zeppos, and a tenacious rival who must be kept as far away as possible from the secret messages contained in the precious book.
