Thangalaan lives a happy life with his family, cultivating his small plot of land in Veppur village, North-Arcot District. Then his village's Zamindhar conspires to take-away the land of Thangalan and turns his family into Banded Labour and Zamindhar is succeeded in it. At that time, an Englishman named Clement came looking for the people of Veppur who already had previous experience in mining gold in the region of Kolar for many kings from time-immemorial. Thangalaan along with his few of his village men goes with Clement to Kolar to save his family from banded labour, as well as to secure his land back from the Zamindhar. He already knew about the gold-deposited Kolar area, which is so wild and mystic in many ways, he had heard many tales from his ancestors about a Naga Chief Aarathi, who is immortal, never dies, supposedly guardians the gold-deposited land from the people of greedy. According to one of such-tale, a myth, Nagars were given the responsibility of protecting the gold, by the King Kaala some thousand years back. So, Arathi and along with her people, always looks after people, who seeks for gold in the area. Thangalaan comes here and struggles a lot. Finally, after finding a tiny piece of gold, Clement asks for more labour, so Thangalaan goes back to his village and brings his people to work for Clement in mining for gold. Here, Thangalaan`s village people faces a lot of problems, like starving to death, accidents and lot more from The Nagars. Thangalaan children dies and people as they are not able to tolerate the miserable life turn against Thangalaan and prepare to leave to their village. But Clement doesn?t allow it to happen, and so gun down some people. There happens a big fight between Thangalaan, Aarathi and Clement, there Thangalaan realises that he is also a Nagar, and joins with Aarathi, fights against Clement, who, in the fight, kills Aarathi, later he gets killed by Thangalaan. In the end, the land in there drenches in the blood of Aarathi, glitters as gold. Thangalaan finally gets gold and stands with his people.
