Kid-Friendly Bestsellers Headed to the Big Screen
Education and entertainment, the best of both worlds, right? Parents, this week at Cinema Con we heard about three kid-friendly movies that unite reading and motion pictures. Each film comes with some lessons and some laughable moments for the entire family. Whether your mini-me has read the books or not, we recommend adding these family friendly films to your must-see list. Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Long Haul The fourth film for the series returns with a whole new cast which includes Alicia Silverstone, Charlie Wright, Tom Everett Scott and Jason Drucker. This time around, a Heffley family road trip to attend Meemaw’s 90 th birthday party goes a bit off course thanks to Greg’s newest scheme to get to a video gaming convention. The film is based on the best-selling book series of all time and is sure to give kids and parents lot of funny moments. Head here to see the hilarious trailer. Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Long Haul hits theatres on May 19. Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie We’ll just cut to the chase and say it. Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie has a star-studded cast of characters. Audiences will be treated to the hysterical voices of Ed Helms, Jordan Peele, Kristen Schall, Thomas Middleditch and comedic rock-star Kevin Hart. With those voices, you know you’re in for some giggle time. This DreamWorks Animation movie is based on the bestselling book series and tells the story of two overly imaginative pranksters, George (voiced by Hart) and Harold (voiced by Middleditch) who hypnotize their principal into thinking he’s a ridiculously enthusiastic, incredibly dimwitted superhero named Captain Underpants. Ferdinand From Blue Sky Studios and Carlos Saldanha, the director of "Rio" and inspired by the beloved book “The Story of Ferdinand" by Munro Leaf and Robert Lawson, Ferdinand is a heartwarming animated comedy adventure with an all-star cast that includes John Cena, Kate McKinnon, Gina Rodriguez, Anthony Anderson and many more. Ferdinand tells the story of a giant bull with a big heart. After being mistaken for a dangerous beast, he is captured and torn from his home. Determined to return to his family, he rallies a misfit team on the ultimate adventure. Set in Spain, Ferdinand proves you can't judge a bull by its cover. Your first Ferdinand trailer is right here. It’s not out until December 15 but from what we’ve seen, it’ll be worth the wait.
