Extreme Fast X Scenes From The CinemaCon Footage

April 27th, 2023Extreme Fast X Scenes From The CinemaCon Footage

One of the biggest action epics of 2023 is almost here. In less than a month, the insanity of FAST X will be unleashed in AMC Theatres around the world, delivering a new spellbinding spectacle featuring an all-star cast that includes series stalwarts like Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Jason Statham, Charlize Theron, and John Cena as well as franchise newcomers like Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, and Alan Ritchson. Our minds are prepared to be blown by the craziness to come – and now that’s especially true after having witnessed the exciting extended footage that just premiered at CinemaCon 2023.

An exciting new look at the blockbuster was premiered during the Universal Pictures presentation this afternoon at the Las Vegas-based convention for theatre owners, and it offered an excellent preview of what’s to come. Specifically, the footage showcased a number of incredible action sequences that we can’t wait to see in theatres – and we’ve broken down six of them below.

Dante Attacks Dom While He Is In An Armored Car

At the start of the FAST X footage, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) is being transported in an armored car for what are presently unknown reasons, and one would think that would be a relatively secure place for the protagonist – but that proves not to be the case. This is because the villainous Dante (Jason Momoa) seems to have a lot of tricks up his sleeve. While driving over a bridge, the transport is hit by a barrage of missiles, and when Dom survives and manages to escape, he finds himself confronting a full assault. It’s a wild set up for a showdown… and yet is only a fraction of the craziness.

Han And Shaw Team Up

Fans of the FAST AND FURIOUS franchise know that Han (Sung Kang) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) have a complicated past. After all, the latter was once assigned to kill the former (and for a long time we thought he was successful). Han, of course, came back in F9, and while there is definitely still some bad blood between the characters, that’s not going to stop them from teaming up in FAST X. In the CinemaCon 2023 footage, the two of them are paired up in a fight against a group of men in tactical gear with assault rifles, and they put their animosity for each other aside so that they can take the would-be assassins down.

Letty vs. Cypher Have A Showdown

Arguably the most exciting scene in the FAST X CinemaCon footage was an extended look at a moment that was teased in the first trailer for the film: a battle between Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and Cypher (Charlize Theron). Evidently, the two women are going to be locked up in a facility together at some point in the blockbuster, but it doesn’t appear that they are going to use the moment to make peace. Instead, fans are going to witness an all-out brawl with the characters that includes flying kicks, shattered glass panes, and even some kind of robot that fires dangerous lasers.

The Tiny Taj Remote Control Car

Taj (Ludacris) has been established in the FAST AND FURIOUS franchise as the resident tech guy, and over the course of the last few movies we’ve seen him employ his smarts and add to major set pieces in a big way. In FAST X, we’ll get to see him do it again – this time with a brand new toy. While he objects to the name of the device, Taj will be operating a small remote control car that Roman (Tyrese Gibson) has dubbed “Tiny Taj.” The CinemaCon footage didn’t specifically showcase its full potential, but it set a high expectation for fireworks when the blockbuster finally hits theatres in late May.

Cannon Cars Are Fun

We can’t forget about Jakob Torretto! The John Cena character was introduced in F9 as a new baddie for the canon, but he switched teams before the end of that film, and in FAST X we’ll get to see him pull off some heroics in aid of the franchise heroes. The CinemaCon preview included a sequence where Jakob arrives on the scene during an attack on Dom’s house and he successfully saves Dom’s son. In a later scene, the kid is riding shotgun with his uncle in a very special kind of new vehicle that Jakob refers to as a “Cannon Car.” We get a brief glimpse of what kind of destruction it can unleash with a few big explosions, but we have to imagine that the best stuff is being saved for the big screen.

Dom Nearly Gets Crushed By Two Tanker Trailers, And Drives Down A Dam

Spending time with Uncle Jakob is evidently not the only peril that Dom’s child finds himself in during the course of FAST X. The CinemaCon footage concluded with a scene featuring the father and son sitting in a car on top of a dam while two massive tanker trailers barrel toward them from opposite directions. With no other option available, Dom opts to drive off the edge of the massive structure, and while the two trucks collide and create a fiery explosion, the street racer-cum-heist king races down the side of the dam trying to survive. But will they?! We’ll find out when FAST X arrives in AMC Theatres in May, and while you wait with bated breath for the blockbuster, stay up to date with everything on the big screen with the Keeping Up With AMC blog and AMC's Twitter.

FAST X opens on May 19th.
