In August of 2022, AMC Theatres committed to a new cinematic experience with the Laser at AMC projectors. The focus of the initial launch was to install the Cinionic projectors at select locations and the majority of our theatres in the New York and Los Angeles markets.
Phase One of laser projections installation has completed and 850 screens in New York and Los Angles theatres are now projecting in Laser at AMC by Cinionic technology. The next phase has already begun in Chicago and will carry into Atlanta, Dallas and Kansas City marketss through the later half of the year. After Phase Five is completed, AMC Theatres will have committed to converting over 3000 screens from Xenon projectors to the new, more energy efficient Laser at AMC projectors across multiple markets in North America. If you live in one of these markets, we encourage you to find a Laser at AMC location near you and see the difference for yourself.
During CinemaCon, theatre exhibitors collaborate and partner with companies like Cinionic to elevate the theatrical experience. This year, attendees are invited to feel the difference with Cinionic's leading portfolio of laser projection and discover the positive impact their projector systems have on the sustainability of energy efficiency. For example, the Laser at AMC projector will last up to 6 years, compared to 4 months with the traditional Xenon projectors. Replacing traditional Xenon bulbs with Laser at AMC projectors is a more sustainable method.
“Today it is not enough for technology to perform. Solutions implemented now will impact the environment into the future,” says Wim Buyens, CEO, Cinionic. “Laser projection is the greener way to enjoy cinema. It is more efficient than previous generations of projectors, using less energy and producing less waste. At Cinionic, we take that further, with sustainable business practices that begin with product design and development, then carry through to the packaging, shipment, and eventually reuse, upcycling, and recycling. We are committed to stunning cinema experiences, sustainably delivered.”
The three major benefits of the Laser at AMC projector from Cinionic is improved image contrast, maximum picture brightness and more vivid color with consistently brilliant images for all screens, at all times.
“Great cinema projection comes down to three factors – image brightness, color, and contrast. With brightness, we’re referring to the amount of light that you see, which is consistently high with laser projection. For color, it’s about the range of colors possible, or the color space. With laser, we can produce a broader spectrum for richer on-screen images. Light levels are key to achieving high contrast, which in turn amplifies the colors your eye sees. Together, these work in unison to deliver the vibrant, stunning images that bring movies to life in a way that only cinema can deliver.” Wim Buyens, CEO, Cinionic
