Superman, Batman, and other members of the Justice League have had multiple movies — both live-action and animated — showcasing their various adventures over the years. However, the same can’t be said for the four-legged companions who have remained loyal to the superhero humans, despite the Legion of Super Pets appearing in countless comic books since first being introduced back in 1962.

That will soon change when DC LEAGUE OF SUPER-PETS opens July 29, 2022 in AMC Theatres nationwide. But before you put on your cape, cowl, or grab your lasso of truth, you’ll probably want to acquaint yourself with the fearless and incredibly adorable group of pets. Luckily, we have put together a quick list of all the super-pets officially announced so far and the all-star cast of actors who are bringing them to life. Buckle up because we’re about to let this one off the leash…

Dwayne Johnson - Krypto

At the center of DC LEAGUE OF SUPER-PETS is Krypto the Super-Dog, who is voiced by wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The best friend of Superman (John Krasinski), Krypto is forced to rise to the occasion and rescue Supes when the hero of Metropolis is kidnapped by none other than Lex Luthor. To do so, he will have to call upon a group of pets with newly obtained superpowers, which won’t be an easy task considering his history of not playing well with others.

One of the most recognizable faces — or voices, in this case — in Hollywood, Dwayne Johnson has been a megastar of epic proportions for more than 20 years now thanks to his landmark run in WWF/WWE and consistently successful acting career. Since stepping out of the ring and onto the soundstage, Johnson has appeared in the FAST AND FURIOUS movies, the JUMANJI reboot franchise, and will soon play another DC superhero, Black Adam.

Kevin Hart - Ace

Next in line in the roundup of DC LEAGUE OF SUPER-PETS heroes is Ace the Bat-Hound, who is voiced by one of the hardest working names in show business today, Kevin Hart. With a dark and traumatic backstory and hard-as-steel personality, it should come as no surprise that this former stray becomes the pet and close friend of Batman, voiced by Keanu Reeves. But unlike his human companion, Ace gains actual superpowers in the animated feature and becomes invulnerable.

It is impossible to go just about anywhere and not see Kevin Hart’s face or voice, whether it be on the silver screen, on your TV, or on the stages of various theatres and comedy clubs around the country. A longtime co-star of Dwayne Johnson’s in movies like CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE, the JUMANJI movies, and HOBBS AND SHAW, Hart has also appeared in a long list of films that includes THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS, THE UPSIDE, THE WEDDING RINGER, and countless others.

Vanessa Bayer - PB

Then there is PB the Potbelly Pig, who is voiced by former “Saturday Night Live” mainstay Vanessa Bayer in DC LEAGUE OF SUPER-PETS. Obsessed with Wonder Woman, this little pig with a heart of gold is quick to rise to the occasion when called upon by Ace to save the Justice League from certain doom, a feat that will put her superpower — the ability to grow to epic proportions — to good use.

In addition to her work all those years on “Saturday Night Live”, Vanessa Bayer has been featured on a large number of popular TV shows throughout her career, including “Portlandia,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” and “Will and Grace,” as well as smaller, one-off roles on several other programs. Her film work includes titles like DESPICABLE ME 2, TRAINWRECK, and BARB AND STAR GO TO VISTA DEL MAR, to name only a few.

Natasha Lyonne - Merton

Next up on the roundup of DC LEAGUE OF SUPER-PETS heroes is Merton the Turtle, the cool, calm, and collected reptile voiced by Natasha Lyonne. When she and the other Super Pets acquire their new abilities, Merton becomes the fastest reptile on the planet with lightning-fast speeds that make her look more like The Flash than a weary turtle. Best of all, she gets to put that speed to the ultimate test in her quest to save the Justice League.

With a career that goes back to 1986 when she portrayed Opal on “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse,” Natasha Lyonne has done a little bit of everything over the years. With several dozen film appearances including the first two AMERICAN PIE movies, PARTY MONSTER, GIRL MOST LIKELY, HELLO, MY NAME IS DORIS,, and THE UNITED STATES VS. BILLIE HOLIDAY, there’s a chance you’ve seen her at least once over the years. And then there is Lyonne’s TV work which includes decorated performances on shows like “Orange is the New Black,” “Russian Doll,” “Weeds,” and much, much more.

Diego Luna - Chip

And last but certainly not least is Chip the Squirrel, who is voiced by Diego Luna in DC LEAGUE OF SUPER-PETS. Despite looking like your run-of-the-mill innocent squirrel, Chip gains the power to shoot lightning out of his paws when he and the rest of the gang become supercharged, giving him the potential to be one of the mightiest rodents in comic book movie history.

Perhaps best known for his portrayal of Cassian Andor in 2016’s ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY or that of Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo on “Narcos: Mexico,” Diego Luna has also appeared in everything from DIRTY DANCING: HAVANA NIGHTS to IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK and A RAINY DAY IN NEW WORK to MILK, with a couple dozen other film appearances in between.

This is just a small portion of the DC LEAGUE OF SUPER-PETS cast and doesn’t even include many of the human characters that will be featured in the long-awaited animated film. But now that you’re acquainted with the major players, all you need to do is set a reminder for its July release, so you don’t miss any of the super pets when the movie opens in AMC Theatres nationwide.
