Welcome to a behind-the-scenes journey through the making of Inside Out 2 at Pixar Animation Studios! Just like the captivating worlds of their previous films, Pixar opened their doors to reveal the intricate process of bringing emotions to life in the highly anticipated sequel to the beloved Inside Out.
Exploring the Story
Our adventure began with a peek into the creative minds behind Inside Out 2. Story Supervisor John Hoffman and Story Artist Becca McVeigh guided us through the exhilarating process of crafting scenes, from initial assignment to pitching to the director. We were also able to witness Becca's live pitch and the collaborative exchange of ideas as they shaped the narrative direction of the film.
Designing New Emotions
We caught up with Designer Jason Deamer and Character Designer Keiko Murayama as they embark on the task of introducing new emotions into the world of Inside Out. We were able to see the conception of these new characters, exploring their designs, colors, and how they seamlessly integrate into the rich tapestry of emotions. It was an amazing look into the Pixar creative process.
Perfecting Animation
One of the most eye-opening parts of our journey was the meticulous polish review process. We watched as the animators received their final notes after weeks of refining each shot, ensuring every frame captured the essence of emotion and movement with precision and artistry.
Digital Set Exploration
DP Camera Adam Habib and Layout Leads Ryan Heuett and Sunguk Chun took us on a virtual camera set scout. Giving us insight into the intricacies of digital camera usage, mirroring the techniques employed in live-action filmmaking. It was inspiring to see how they breathed life into vibrant world of Inside Out 2.
Live Edit Session
Next up was the editing suite of Maurissa Horwitz, lead Editor of Inside Out 2, where she gave a live demonstration of the editing process. We were able to witness firsthand how scenes are meticulously pieced together, collaborating with various departments to ensure every moment serves the story seamlessly.
As we journeyed through the corridors of Pixar Animation Studios, surrounded by the iconic characters and captivating artwork, it gave us a deeper appreciation for the magic behind the scenes. From the initial spark of an idea to the final frame on the big screen, Inside Out 2 promises to take audiences on an emotional rollercoaster unlike any other.
