A Perfect End For The Bellas

The PITCH PERFECT franchise won over millions of fans the world over through its singing, dancing and whole lotta heart, courtesy of a group of misfit music lovers who formed the Barden Bellas. Five years on and one sequel later, the Bellas are uniting once again for one final performance in PITCH PERFECT 3.
We're still just under a month away from the film's release, but thankfully Universal Pictures hasn't been stingy with content. A sneak peek was released this summer that dished great behind-the-scenes insight into the making of the movie, as well as teasing at some enticing scenes. Then the studio got the hype train going again with the first full-length trailer.
The Bellas are out of college and unhappy with the way their lives are panning out. Fortunately for the group, they get one last shot at a career in music, thanks to the USO worldwide tour. But as you might expect from the franchise, the Bellas' journey to musical success is not without its challenges — this time in the form of an experienced band led by Ruby Rose's Calamity.
This time around, the beloved a cappella group will get their hands dirty on their road to success. Who would have thought Beca and Fat Amy would jump from a burning boat back in 2012 when the first movie hit theaters? Still, the third movie is shaping up to be the perfect end to the trilogy.
Keeping Up With The Franchise's Roots
The first two PITCH PERFECT films were the big-screen equivalent of Fox's hit TV series Glee. Through relatable scenarios and engaging characters, both properties helped audiences see it was okay to be different and follow your passions.
PITCH PERFECT 3 is continuing that trend of relatability, putting our protagonists in less-than-ideal situations that many of us have found ourselves in as they fight to get back on top. Judging from everything we've seen so far, it looks like the film's on track to be a memorable a-ca-perfect send-off for Beca, Fat Amy, Chloe and the rest of the Bellas gang.
Much of the original lineup of stars from the first two films — including Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld and Elizabeth Banks — are returning for the third in the trilogy, which this time around will be directed by Trish Sie.
The idea that we'll see our Barden Bellas in situations we've never seen them in before is emphasized in the official synopsis, too:
“Now graduated from college and out in the real world where it takes more than a cappella to get by, the Bellas return in PITCH PERFECT 3. After the highs of winning the World Championships, the Bellas find themselves split apart and discovering there aren’t job prospects for making music with your mouth. But when they get the chance to reunite for an overseas USO tour, this group of awesome nerds will come together to make some music, and some questionable decisions, one last time.”
And as the movie's poster teases, it's one last final push for our protagonists, so why not send them out with a bang?
Go big or go home. That's the Barden Bellas way. PITCH PERFECT 3 hits cinemas on December 22.
