A Closer Look At Iron Spider Suit

If you watched closely during SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, you likely spotted more than a few Easter Eggs. One that gained more attention than the inclusion of Miles Morales's uncle? Peter Parker's Iron Spider Suit. The suit drastically enhanced Spider-Man's abilities in the comics, and we finally have a good look at the suit from the end of the film. Let's take a look at what what we know about the suit so far and how it could reappear again in the MCU.
Homecoming Visual FX Supervisor Dominik Zimmerle Gave The Lowdown
Leaked trailer footage from D23 and Comic-Con shows Tom Holland's Spidey donning the Iron Spider suit in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, which is set to launch in 2018. The designs for the suit came straight from the upcoming film's concept art.
In an interview with Art of VFX, Dominik Zimmerle gave us an idea of Peter Parker's future within the MCU:
“The new Spider-Man suit was actually designed for one of the next installments of the MCU and models and textures were done by Framestore. We took over the asset and did the lookdev based on provided Concept Art. The Vault itself was created from scratch by us. Our Concept Art department started from the closed outside look of it to define the graphical patterns and structure. Based on that we prepared simplified geometry and approached the interior look from an animation point of view, so how well we could create some more sophisticated opening animation with the available structure. The idea was to have a clean, high tech, presentation Vault for the new suit. It should appear distinctively Stark originated. Based on the feedback from the Studio we refined the interior structure and modeled, textured and look deved the Vault.”
While little is known about INFINITY WAR, we know that the suit was rather important during the Marvel Civil War.
What's The History Behind The Iron Spider Suit?
Peter Parker primarily wore the suit during CIVIL WAR while he was aligned with Tony Stark against Captain America's Secret Avengers. After the CIVIL WAR ended, Tony Stark would repossess the armor and store it in Stark Tower. Though the Iron Spider Armor was mostly worn by Peter Parker, Mary Jane Watson also wore it to fight against Regent.
The suit was also replicated for a unique force of Spider-Men after the Mutant Registration Act was passed and made into law. It seems the Infinity War may just be the battle that needs to happen in order for Tony Stark to let Spidey wear the suit.
Why Might Peter Parker Need The Suit In Infinity War?
There's no doubt that Thanos is going to be giving some serious smack-downs in the upcoming Infinity War. While he doesn't yet have his Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos is a fierce fighter, and his powers might prove to be more than the Avengers are prepared to handle. We can only assume that somehow Peter is going to get hurt, whether it's by Thanos or the Chitauri that serve him. Let's just hope we don't see Peter take too many heavy blows from Thanos. After all, we still need Spidey for the future MCU films if he plans on sticking around.
