The Epic Cast Of ‘Hunter Killer’
We’ve seen Gerard Butler rescue the United States president from global catastrophes in Olympus Has Fallen and London Has Fallen. Now, the actor is embarking on a quest to rescue the Russian president from a rogue Defense minister in Hunter Killer, opening on October 26. The film, an adaptation of George Wallace and Don Keith’s novel Firing Point, focuses on Joe Glass (Butler), a submarine captain who’s tasked with saving President Zakarin from a coup orchestrated by one of his ministers.
Aided by the Pentagon and a team of skilled Navy SEALs, Glass puts his life on the line to retrieve the Russian leader and prevent World War III. Hunter Killer features an impressive cast to tell this story — let’s meet the actors.
Gerard Butler
Gerard Butler plays Captain Joe Glass. Once a law student, Butler ultimately pursued an acting career. Following small appearances in Mrs. Brown and Tomorrow Never Dies, he landed his first leading role in Dracula 2000, a contemporary reimagining of Bram Stoker’s classic story.
He went on to be featured in films like Reign Of Fire, Timeline and Tomb Raider – The Cradle Of Life, before jumping into the spotlight playing the haunting lead in The Phantom Of The Opera, opposite Emmy Rossum. Some of Butler’s greatest mainstream success came from playing hardened Secret Service agent Mike Banning in the Olympus Has Fallen franchise. His next projects are How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World and Angel Has Fallen.
Gary Oldman
Gary Oldman plays Admiral Charles Donnegan, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff. Oldman needs no introduction. He’s known for full transformations on screen, whether as Sid Vicious in Sid And Nancy, Lee Harvey Oswald in JFK, or Dracula in Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
Oldman made his directorial debut in 1997’s Nil By Mouth, which explored the daily struggles of a working-class family living in London. Years later, he became a household name playing Sirius Black in the Harry Potter series, and Jim Gordon in the Dark Knight trilogy.
